Welcome To The Building Owners & Managers Association of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island

The Building Owners & Managers Association New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island (BOMA NBPEI)is one of eleven federated locals that together form BOMA Canada, which represents over 3200 Canadian members in the industry and over 2.1 Billion square feet of office space. BOMA originated in the United States as an association dedicated to members of the commercial real estate industry, including owners and managers as well as those professionals providing goods and services to the industry. Since its origins in 1907, BOMA has grown and prospered, dedicating itself to establishing best practices and researching real estate topics that would be valuable to commercial real estate managers, operators and suppliers.

In growing, BOMA came to the realisation that education was key to the development of the industry, thus the Building Owners & Managers Institute (BOMI) was born. BOMI is now responsible for the development and administration of educational curricula. They grant professional designations related to the commercial real estate industry, including the RPA and FMA designations.

Each year, the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada offers its National Awards Program in recognition of excellence in the Canadian commercial real estate industry.

  • The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards salute the stars of the commercial real estate industry, recognizing excellence in property management, operations, resource conservation, environmental awareness, leasing and building design, customer service and innovation.
  • The Earth Award is BOMA Canada’s recognition of excellence in resource preservation and environmentally sound commercial building management. The BOMA Canada Earth Award is presented to a building that has made significant efforts to address environmental issues faced by both older and newer buildings.
  • BOMA Canada’s Pinnacle Awards recognize companies that represent a standard of excellence to which all BOMA members and their employees should aspire. The Pinnacle Awards recognize innovation, teamwork, outstanding service and commitment to clients.

BOMA NB/PEI Committees

  1. Communications / Marketing / Events

    Responsible for the continual communication and marketing of all BOMA events and BOMI education, as well as actively involved in the promotion of BOMA NB-PEI and related industry news and events through various platforms, including our social media (Twitter and LinkedIn), BOMA NB-PEI website and hard copy materials.

  2. Membership Committee

    The promotion, growth and retention of members. Actively seek out new members through personal contact and by promoting the association at community events. To communicate the benefits of membership and collect member experiences and reactions. Promote Membership incentives. Recommend new programs for current members and continually strive to create a welcoming and valuable experience. Working together in planning social and networking events for all members.

  3. Sustainability Committee

    Promotes and facilitates BOMA BEST 3.0 program, with assistance of BOMA CANADA. Work together with other organizations to promote sustainability in the work place, best practices, Award Programs, etc.

  4. Finance Committee

    Overseeing the financial reporting and disclosure process. Monitoring choice of accounting policies and principles.

  5. Education Committee

    The Education Committee provides leadership to BOMA NB∙PEI on matters relating to professional learning for those in the Commercial Property industry. The committee is responsible for providing BOMI accredited courses, for professional development seminars and workshops for the association.

  6. Government Relations Committee

    The government relations committee’s role is to further BOAM NB∙PEI’s members’ interests by promoting policies with all levels of government by providing fact-based positions on issues affecting the Commercial Property environment. The committee is charged with developing a pro-active agenda that ensures sound public policy is in place that encourages favorable environment for building owners, managers and developers.

    Knowing our membership and working with our members and committee structures to seeing where help is needed.

    It involves formulating the event concept and coordinating the technical aspects before the event, such as venues, speakers and education, marketing, hiring event managers and technology.
