This month’s Member spotlight; we got to hear from Indigo Park Canada’s Operation Manager, Atlantic Region – Kelly Davis
How many years have you been in this business?
Almost 6 years.
Why did you join BOMA?
Networking and the industry information that is constantly provided. I take the time to read each communication.
What's one thing - either industry-related or not - you learned in the last month?
I have learned how to leverage Indigo’s Parking Business Intelligent software to better predict and forecast our customers trends and respond to their needs proactively.
What educational or business experiences best prepared you for your career?
My education is in Accounting but I have worked many different jobs. The diversity of my experience is what made me most suitable for my current position
What advice would you give to professionals coming in to the commercial industry?
Empathy and respect go a long way. When dealing with customers, either internal or external, try to put on their shoes for a moment.
If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be and why?
Hang in there and never give up. It is only a mistake if you did not learn from it.
What's your favourite movie and why?
Lord of the Rings because it brings back some great family memories for me. We watched the cartoon version many times as we grew up. When the newer movies came out we all went as a large family group to the theatre to watch.
If you could have dinner with someone famous (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Oprah Winfrey because she came from a very difficult background yet pushed her way to the top. As a woman I have no doubt she met many different obstacles yet did not let that slow her down. Now that she has so much she has been very giving to those around her. I feel pride for her that she never gave up.
How do you define success?
Success for me has nothing to do with finance. When we receive a compliment about one of our staff members helping someone in need, that is success to me. Success is knowing our customers have everything they need and that they can continue their day without a thought for their parking. It is what we strive for.
Thank you, Kelly; it was great to hear from you!
